Spotlight on Michigan

Underclassmen commit to CMU

Addison’s Luke Meyer (’13 and 2011 MBBR Skill Showcase attendee) and Boyne City’s Corey Redman (’14) have committed to play their college basketball at Central Michigan University.  The 6’10” Meyer averaged 13.8 points/game and 10.7 rebs./game last year as a sophomore.  In addition, Meyer shot better than 40% from 3 point distance and blocked 4 shots each night out on the hardwood. This year Meyer is averaging 20 +pts./game and 10+rebs./game. His range and ability to face up to the basket attracted the interest from a number of Division I schools. He chose Central Michigan from a host of schools recruiting him which included other MAC schools – Ball State, Toledo, and Western Michigan. This Spring Luke will be playing his travel basketball with Dorian’s Pride. Luke has added strength and power to his long frame, now looking the part of a D1 basketball player. We saw Luke this past weekend at the Up North Challenge in Mt. Pleasant as Dorian’s Pride took the 17’s Championship from some very stiff competition from around Michigan.

6’5” sophomore Corey Redman led Boyne City led his team to a Class C District title last year by averaging 12 points and 6 rebounds a game.  This year he is averaging better than 18 points/game.  His shooting range and size on the wing will fit in nicely with CMU Coach Keno Davis’ wide open offensive system. Meyer and Redman will eventually join Edwardsburg’s Josh Kozinski at Central Michigan.  The 6’4” Kozinski signed a letter of intent with the Chippewas back in November.
